REQUIREMENTS

Foreign/International Students who are prospective scholarship recipients must fulfill the following requirements:

Undergraduate Program (Strata 1 / S1)

a. Maximum age of 23 years;
b. Submit a Curriculum Vitae;
c. Complete the following documents:

  1. Application form;
  2. Diploma or graduation certificate from senior high school or equivalent;
  3. Passport / other identity card;
  4. Color photo (4 x 6 cm) with a red background;
  5. Motivation letter;
  6. Recommendation letter from the educational institution of origin;
  7. Statement letter of not being married during the scholarship period;
  8. Statement letter agreeing to complete studies on time, with a duty stamp (bermaterai);
  9. Proof of not being involved in any prohibited organization (police clearance or certificate from the embassy of the applicant’s country of origin).

Master’s Program (Strata 2 / S2)

a. Maximum age of 35 years;
b. Submit a Curriculum Vitae;
c. Complete and submit the following documents:

  1. Application form;
  2. Passport / other identity card;
  3. Color photo (4 x 6 cm) with a red background;
  4. At least two recommendation letters from lecturers at the applicant’s home university;
  5. Copy of diploma and academic transcript translated into English/Arabic/Indonesian and legalized by the Ministry of Education of the country of origin;
  6. Minimum GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale;
  7. Certificate of English or Arabic language proficiency;
  8. Recommendation letter from the applicant’s university;
  9. Motivation letter;
  10. Statement letter of not marrying an Indonesian citizen during the scholarship period;
  11. Statement letter agreeing to complete studies on time.

Registration is conducted online from March 10th to April 20th, 2023, under the following conditions:

  1. Registration is carried out independently at each Islamic Higher Education Institution (FTKI) through the Ministry of Religious Affairs portal: REGISTER HERE 
  2. Prospective students must register by filling out and uploading required documents in the format provided by the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
  3. The selection results from each higher education institution are submitted to the Directorate General of Islamic Education, c.q. the Directorate of Islamic Religious Higher Education, and also entered into the system form prepared by the Ministry.

Rights of Scholarship Recipients
  1. Financial support;
  2. Emergency situations.
  1. Scholarship recipients are entitled to funding from PTKI, which includes:
    1. Single Tuition Fee (UKT);
    2. Accommodation;
    3. Guidance and consultation related to regulatory matters, visa/immigration;
    4. Health services in accordance with the scope of insurance.
  2. Scholarship recipients are also entitled to financial support from the Directorate General of Islamic Education (DITJEN PENDIS), which includes:
    1. Living cost, with the following breakdown:
      • 4,000,000 for Doctoral Program;
      • 3,000,000 for Master’s Program;
      • 2,500,000 for Undergraduate Program.
    2. Return airfare to the home country (economy class).
  3. The amount of living cost may change at any time depending on the financial condition of the State.
  4. Living cost payments are made through the scholarship recipient’s bank account at a bank recommended by the university where the student is studying, in Indonesian Rupiah.
  5. The value of the scholarship is determined by the decision of the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

In emergency situations, scholarship recipients have the right to receive services including:

  1. Assistance as a victim of legal violations;
  2. Reporting and coordination of emergency situations with the Embassy/Consulate of the home country in the event of natural disasters, pandemics, wars, or conflicts;
  3. The right to receive physical and mental security guarantees, such as the provision of a safe house/shelter, and logistics related to emergency situations.

1. Academic responsibilities;
2. Legal and cultural compliance;
3. Language training;
4. Participation in the International Student Orientation in Indonesia.

Scholarship recipients are required to fulfill the following:
Complete their studies within the following maximum durations:
a. 8 semesters or 4 years for Undergraduate Program (S1);
b. 4 semesters or 2 years for Master’s Program (S2);
c. 6 semesters or 3 years for Doctoral Program (S3).

  1. Check the validity period of passport, visa (VITAS), and temporary stay permit (ITAS) regularly;
  2. Scholarship recipients are required to report the active status of their stay permit (KITAS) at least 6 months before the expiration date;
  3. Scholarship recipients must respect the culture in their academic environment;
  4. Scholarship recipients must respect the local culture, wisdom, customs, beliefs, and norms of the community in the city where they are studying.
  1. All new international students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programs) must take an Indonesian language course conducted for a maximum of 2 (two) semesters or until they
    obtain a minimum score of 3.00 on the Indonesian Language Proficiency Test conducted at the respective Islamic higher education institution;
  2. If an international student fails to meet the minimum Indonesian Language Proficiency threshold, further Indonesian language training will be managed by each respective implementing unit (Satker);
  3. Indonesian language training will continue until the scholarship recipient reaches the required standard, with assistance from the relevant unit at the State Islamic Higher Education Institution.
  1. Participate in academic orientation activities for new international students to understand academic regulations and procedures;
  2. Participate in activities related to religious moderation and Indonesian cultural values.
  1. The scholarship granted to international students can be terminated if:

a. The recipient has reached the maximum duration of the scholarship or has completed their studies (whichever comes first);
b. Bachelor’s degree recipients are proven to have married;
c. Master’s and Doctoral degree recipients are proven to have married an Indonesian citizen;
d. The cumulative GPA is below 3.00 for two consecutive semesters;
e. The student withdraws from the program for certain reasons;
f. The student violates laws and regulations applicable in Indonesia;
g. The student breaches the agreement that has been signed.
h. Passes away and;
i. Takes academic leave.

2. In the case of scholarship termination as stated in point 1, if the International Student wishes to continue their studies, all tuition and study-related expenses must be borne by the student.
3. The decision to terminate the scholarship program is determined by the decision of the Director General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
